‘Aperitivo’ is the Italian word for both a type of drink and a ritual that began
in the 18th century and still practised by Italians today.
The word roughly means ‘to open’ and the ritual is the pre-dinner drinks and
small bites of food that serve to open up your appetite.
If Marcello Mastroianni and Sophia Loren lived in Thornbury they would drink with us.
So end your working day like a Roman with an Aperol Spritz, a glass of Prosecco or a stiff Negroni.
